PUBERTY! EEEEEWWWW! I WASN’T READY!
I wish there was a scientific way to predict puberty. I thought that because my son was 12 NOT 13, that I had more time, BUT I WAS WRONG. And it happened overnight too. On Thursday he was into dragons and baseball and x-box and playing his sax and on Friday, all he could talk about was girls – one in particular. Every conversation that he was involved in, he brought up this girl. All he could think about was this girl. Last night he couldn’t go to sleep because he was so nervous because he decided that the next day was the day that he would ask her out. I AM NOT READY FOR THIS! I want the boy back that was into reading stories about the fantastical world of dragons, bragging about his amazing catch in the baseball game earlier, who would sit on the couch for hours on a Saturday playing x-box…….now all he wants is dating advice. I JUST WASN’T READY FOR THIS! Help, am I the only mom who feels this way? How have other moms dealt with this? IS THERE A CURE? If I make kool-aid and chocolate chip cookies can I coax the child back out? Maybe for a day or two? I guess I would have liked a warning, perhaps a two week notice.
Dear mom,
In two weeks, I will be totally into girls and that will be all that I can talk and think about. Every conversation and every action will all be directly related to girls. Don’t buy me anymore Lego’s please as all I will need will be 5 kinds of hair gel, lots of toothpaste and deodorant. Please start getting me up earlier so that I can now spend 30 minutes in front of the mirror each morning to ensure that I look as good as I can (AKA – chick magnet).
Thanks for everything mom.
Love,
Your son
PS – If you could ALWAYS knock before entering my room now, that would be great!
Yes, I think 2 weeks notice would have been nice – but I guess I will just have to deal with it.
